Knowledge Is Power

Resources

Information and tools to help you stay safe and plan your next steps.

Safety Planning Guide

A personalized safety plan can help you prepare for a crisis situation. Key steps include: identifying safe areas in your home away from weapons, memorizing important phone numbers, keeping important documents and a bag packed in a hidden location, establishing a code word with trusted friends or family, and knowing the location of your nearest shelter. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Local Support Groups

Connecting with others who share similar experiences can be a powerful part of healing. SafeHaven hosts weekly support groups for survivors in a confidential, facilitated setting. Topics include rebuilding self-esteem, co-parenting after abuse, financial empowerment, and processing trauma. Contact us for the current schedule and locations.

Legal Resources

Understanding your legal rights is an important step toward safety. Georgia law provides protections including Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs), family violence protective orders, and stalking protective orders. You have the right to remain in your home while your abuser is removed, and you do not need an attorney to file for protection. Our advocates can guide you through each step of the process.

Financial Assistance

Financial abuse is one of the most common barriers to leaving. SafeHaven provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, transportation, and childcare. We also partner with local workforce development programs to provide job training, resume building, and interview preparation. Our financial literacy workshops cover budgeting, credit repair, and long-term financial planning.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
